Project Outputs

  • Establishment of a molecular biology lab

  • Implementation of a DNA marker-assisted selection system

  • Identification of materials resistant to MSV for use in breeding

  • Development of a mapping population for MSV resistance

  • Studies on the vector epidemiology and migration patterns to produce forecast models

  • Studies on the maize streak virus that showed 5 different isolates exist in different regions of Kenya where the disease is endemic
