Project Outputs

Identification, Selection, Multiplication and Distribution of Improved Planting Materials of Cassava Varieties to Farming Communities

  • Cassava producers have been provided with a diversity of cassava varieties combining multiple pest-disease resistance with preferred quality characteristics for food, feed and industrial purposes.

  • Production losses resulting from the effects of CMD pandemic has been mitigated by accelerated multiplication and distribution of high yielding CMD resistant varieties to cassava producers. Consequently, the area under improved cassava varieties increased which will eventually increase cassava production.

  • Cassava producers in the region have been trained CMD and proper management practices for sustainable production, processing and utilization of cassava.

  • Spreading pattern of cassava mosaic pandemic has been established and risk assessment for rapid intervention measures developed to cab the scourge.

  • Implementation of the project activities enhanced through strengthened networks at local, national and regional levels.
