Creation of the African
Rice Initiative (ARI) with an action plan following the
NERICA workshop
ARI was later launched.
The ARI Secretariat has been partially funded by the
Rockefeller Foundation. An interim coordinator is on seat
and the substantive Coordinator will start in July 2003.
Work plan submitted and countries contacted for
nominations of National Coordinators. Other donors being
contacted for confirmation of commitment.
